Located six miles west of Scotty's Castle, Ubehebe Crater is accessible by a paved road extending 40 miles northwest from Highway 190. This road leads to a parking and viewing area on the western edge of Ubehebe Crater..

Suggestions for your visit

This unusual landscape is worthy of exploration. The trail to the bottom of Ubehebe Crater is a fun romp through loose rubble. However, the laborious climb out can be exhausting. A gentler 0.5-mile trail can be followed along the rim of Ubehebe to Little Hebe Crater. Although older than Ubehebe, Little Hebe maintains a very distinctive form. After exploring Little Hebe, it's possible to continue a loop walk for another mile around the rim of Ubehebe.
