Don Plouff is an emeritus geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, Calif. His volunteer efforts to improve methods to process gravity data are implemented by writing computer programs. His career with the USGS mostly included applications of the gravity method to geophysical investigations. His field study areas included the Arctic Ocean, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Oregon, and Nevada. He also applied magnetic, seismic-calibration, and magnetotelluric methods to geophysical investigations.
