Figure 11. The Moreno Formation crops out along the western edge of the San Joaquin Valley and is found in the subsurface to the east. This diagram from Beyer and Bartow (1988) shows the age and stratigraphic relationships of the Moreno Formation and overlying Tertiary rock units (scroll down or click here). Wavy horizontal lines on chart indicate unconformities between rock units. Areas with vertical lines indicate episodes of hiatus when rocks either were not deposited or were removed by erosion.
